OMG, That 2023 Heavy Metal Season Was Everything!
Relive Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 Heavy Metal's free Maddox rifle, rugged Operator skins, and intense Goliath Clash mode.
I still can't get over how epic Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2: Heavy Metal was back in 2023! Even now in 2026, I keep going back to my old clips and thinking – was that the most perfectly stacked season ever? From the Maddox assault rifle to those jaw-dropping Operator skins and the insane Goliath Clash mode, it was non-stop adrenaline. If you missed it, let me take you on a nostalgic ride because this season literally had it all.

What Made Heavy Metal So Special?
February 22nd, 2023 – I remember logging in, seeing that post-apocalyptic vibe, and just knowing this season would hit different. The theme blended metal music, desert wastelands, and gritty combat perfectly. Honestly, was there a cooler way to ring in the Lunar New Year than with heavy riffs and explosive firefights?
The Battle Pass – A Total Banger 🎸
Both free and premium tiers were packed with goodies. The highlight for me was the Maddox assault rifle, straight out of Black Ops 4. You could grab it at Tier 21 in the free pass – yes, a brand-new weapon for free! It had a high fire rate, almost no recoil, and a deep magazine, which made it a beast for locking down lanes and suppressing enemies. I paired it with the Aerodynamic Blueprint from the premium track, and honestly, it looked as sleek as it performed.

At Tier 14, we got the Unit Support perk. This was a game-changer – every time a squadmate eliminated someone, you got progress toward your next killstreak and operator skill. Could you imagine the snowball potential in a coordinated team? I sure exploited it in Hardpoint.
Other free rewards included a bunch of camos and the DR-H – Deadman’s Hand at Tier 50. Meanwhile, the premium pass showered us with Operator skins like The Marshall, Deadman, Domino – Intimidation Techniques, and Beck – Spray Paint. Each one had that rugged, post-apocalyptic flair, right down to the cracked leather and face paint.

The weapon blueprints were equally insane: QXR – DEAD-54, HBra3 – Steel Carnage, SP-R 208 – Wild West, and Koshka – Ironclad Enforcer. Every blueprint I used felt like it had its own personality – the Koshka especially turned me into a quickscoping menace.
If you grabbed the Battle Pass Subscription (Ground Forces), you unlocked even more, like the Rytec AMR – Hell Bound, Backpack 2 – Ebony Commander, and the Wraith – Death Metal Operator. That 10% XP boost was just the cherry on top for grinding.
Diesel Map – Hot, Dusty, and So Fun 🌵
Bringing a map from Black Ops Cold War into mobile was a genius move. Diesel was a dilapidated gas station in the middle of a scorching desert, and the layout perfectly balanced open sightlines with tight indoor brawls. I would switch from a long-range AR to an SMG mid-match because the fight could go from 50 meters to point-blank in a heartbeat. You really had to adapt your loadout on the fly, and that kept every match fresh.

Goliath Clash! – Mech Mayhem 😈
Hands down one of the wildest limited-time modes we’ve ever seen. You deployed straight into a Goliath mech and fought for Domination-style capture points. Capturing dropped batteries that let you upgrade your Goliath with Blue, Red, or Silver buffs. My go-to was the Red upgrade: Purifier flamethrower plus health boost and damage reduction – pure chaos! The Blue upgrade gave you a deadly melee weapon and a slide ability (super stylish), and Silver ramped up your firepower and tankiness. Earning these upgrades mid-battle felt so rewarding, like building your own boss character in real time.
Chaos Control & Ravager Launcher 🚀
Control mode but with unlimited lives? Say less! Chaos Control let us play super aggressively – no more playing it safe just because you only had one life left. We could push objectives relentlessly, and those clutch multi kills felt even better.
The new Ravager Launcher class was my new main in BR. Dropping a time-limited sentry turret that automatically fired at nearby enemies was already helpful, but upgrading it to lock onto vehicles and fire high-damage missiles? That won me so many endgame circles. Just remember to place the turret behind cover, because opponents could destroy it.
Seasonal Events & That Sweet Underbarrel Launcher 💥
The seasonal grind was real but worthwhile. By completing daily missions in MP and BR, we collected fuel to progress down a reward track. The ultimate prizes were the S36 – Vengeful Clucks (yes, a chicken-themed LMG) and Captain Park – Party Camo, which never failed to make my squad laugh.

One of the standout rewards was the Underbarrel Grenade Launcher attachment for the M4. Oh my god, clearing hardpoint hills with a well-placed grenade felt so satisfying. It turned the M4 from a reliable workhorse into an objective-breaking monster.
We also got Limited Time Tickets (LTT) that carried over from Season 1. You could spend them on exclusive Operator skins and blueprints in the LTT Store. I remember scrambling to finish my tickets before the March 12 deadline – did you manage to buy everything you wanted?
Lucky Draws & BP Vault – The Collector's Dream 💎
The draws were absolute fire:
-
Nyx – Starstruck: An assassin hiding behind a pop star persona, with the HS0405 – Songstress that looked like a musical instrument. Talk about deadly diva energy.
-
Demir – Dark Spell: Steampunk magician vibes with the Legendary GKS – Mystic Cards. I’d swap to this loadout just to flex.
-
Sophia – Sand Dune: Featuring the Legendary Fennec – Corrupted Light, which felt like holding a prototype weapon from a sci-fi thriller.
-
Killgore – Vengeful Flames: A metal musician who turned combat into lyrics, with the Legendary M4 – Iron Song, a guitar-shaped blueprint. Yes, a literal guitar-themed M4.
The Battle Pass Vault brought back Spurned and Burned content, giving us a second chance at Epic skins like Morte – Conciliatore, Scarlett Rhodes – Carmine, Alex – Bounty Hunter, and Scylla – Dusted, plus blueprints like the M4 – Spurred and Razorback – Stirrup. As a collector, this was everything.
So… Did COD Mobile Ever Top This Season?
Fast-forward to 2026, and I still measure new seasons against Heavy Metal. Sure, we have had incredible content since then – mythic weapons, more crossover events – but the vibe of that season was unmatched. The balance of free rewards, the creativity of Goliath Clash, and the sheer personality of the skins and themed events made it a masterpiece. Who else wishes we could get a Heavy Metal Part 2? Imagine a 2026 remix with even crazier tech…
If you were there, what was your favorite memory? Drop it in the comments (well, in your mind 😂). And if you joined later, I hope this little throwback shows you why old players still get misty-eyed about February 2023. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go watch my old Goliath clips again.
