Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 Heavy Metal — A Post-Apocalyptic Retrospective
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 Heavy Metal delivers post-apocalyptic warfare, a rewarding Battle Pass, and the free Maddox assault rifle.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 Heavy Metal — A Post-Apocalyptic Retrospective

The Atlas Corporation’s most wanted Operator, Alias, is hiding out in the ruins of Las Vegas. Accepting Atlas’s bounty on the target, Marshall and his posse come to collect. That premise set the tone for Call of Duty: Mobile Season 2 — Heavy Metal, a post-apocalyptic chapter that blended desert warfare, mech combat, and a generous reward stream. The season launched on February 22 at 4 PM PT, and in 2026 it remains a distinctive entry in the game’s long history — not because it is the newest season, but because it pushed several bold ideas into the same package. Heavy Metal promised epic action and plentiful rewards, and its mix of new maps, modes, weapons, and Operator content gave players plenty to pursue.
The Heavy Metal Battle Pass: Free Weapons and Premium Style
The Heavy Metal Battle Pass featured free and premium items, including new Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, Calling Cards, and additional COD Points for future Premium Pass or Store purchases. Its free track was especially notable for putting a new assault rifle within reach. The Maddox Assault Rifle, first seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, unlocked at Tier 21. With a high fire rate, minimal recoil, and an extended magazine, the Maddox was positioned as a strong choice for mobile suppressive tactics.
Another free-tier highlight arrived at Tier 14: the Perk — Unit Support. This valuable new Perk earned progress toward the next Killstreak and Operator Skill whenever a teammate eliminated an enemy player. That design encouraged teamwork and made support-oriented play feel more rewarding. Other free-tier highlights included a variety of camos, Weapon Blueprints, and the DR-H — Deadman’s Hand at Tier 50.
| Battle Pass Feature | Highlight |
|---|---|
| Free weapon | Maddox Assault Rifle at Tier 21 |
| Free Perk | Unit Support at Tier 14 |
| Free Tier 50 reward | DR-H — Deadman’s Hand |
| Premium theme | Post-apocalyptic Operator Skins and Blueprints |
Premium Pass buyers could earn all the content available in the Heavy Metal stream. The lineup included post-apocalyptic-themed Operator Skins such as The Marshall, Deadman, Domino — Intimidation Tactics, and Beck — Spray Paint. Premium Tier Weapon Blueprints included the QXR — DEAD-54, HBra3 — Steel Carnage, SP-R 208 — Wild West, and Koshka — Ironclad Enforcer. Players could also earn the Maddox — Aerodynamic, a Blueprint featuring Season 2’s new free weapon.
A Battle Pass Subscription offered another route into the Ground Forces. In addition to full Battle Pass access, subscribers earned extra rewards each season, a 10% boost to Player and Weapon XP, and limited discounts on 10x crate pulls. Season 2’s Ground Forces rewards included the Wraith — Death Metal Operator Skin, the Rytec AMR — Hell Bound Weapon Blueprint, and Backpack 2 — Ebony Commander.
Multiplayer: Diesel, Goliath Clash!, and Chaos Control
Heavy Metal ramped up the chaos with the new Diesel Multiplayer map and two new modes, Goliath Clash! and Chaos Control. Diesel, first seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, took players to a run-down gas station situated under the scorching desert sun. Battles unfolded in and around the station and nearby stores, shifting between mid- to long-ranged fights in the open and tight-knit skirmishes inside. The players who could best navigate in and out of the various buildings — switching Loadouts throughout the match to keep up with the changing tide of battle — found the most success.
Goliath Clash! deployed players into matches as Goliaths, fighting other mechs in a Domination-style mode with three capture points. Capturing a point rewarded a battery drop, which players could collect to further upgrade their Goliath’s abilities. The upgrades came in Blue, Red, and Silver variants, each offering a different combat identity:
-
🔵 Blue: A melee weapon with improved damage and a new slide skill, plus faster movement speed.
-
🔴 Red: The Purifier, plus a health boost and reduced incoming damage.
-
⚪ Silver: Enhanced firepower with a damage and health boost.
Chaos Control offered a variant of Control with no limit to the number of lives available to each team. That change allowed a much more aggressive playstyle, rewarding risks and big plays rather than cautious attrition. For players who enjoyed momentum-driven matches, the mode created a noticeably different rhythm from standard Control.
Battle Royale: The Ravager Launcher Class
The new Ravager Launcher class added more oomph to Battle Royale combat potential. Its base ability deployed a time-limited Sentry Turret that automatically attacked enemies within range. When upgraded, the Sentry Turret fired high-damage missiles capable of locking on to vehicles. The turret could be destroyed, so placement mattered; deploying it in relation to the enemy was a tactical decision rather than a fire-and-forget action. That balance kept the class useful without making it unstoppable.
Black Gold Brawl, Tickets, and Seasonal Challenges
The Black Gold Brawl themed event asked players to take on daily challenges across Multiplayer and Battle Royale to help extract the fuel needed for ongoing operations. Drilling for more fuel throughout the event progressed the reward track. Completing missions each day unlocked final event rewards, including the S36 — Vengeful Clucks and Captain Park — Party Camo.
Continuing from Season 1, Limited Time Tickets could be earned by completing various seasonal events and by eliminating enemies in Battle Royale. The Limited Time Ticket Store opened through March 12, offering content such as new Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints. Heavy Metal also featured new Seasonal Challenges and Featured Events rewarding Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, Battle Pass XP, and more. Among the season’s rewards was a new signature underbarrel attachment: the Underbarrel Grenade Launcher for the M4, which provided an explosive alternate attack suited to dislodging enemy groups and clearing objective points.
Store Draws and the Battle Pass Vault
Season 2’s Store update introduced a new Legendary Character Draw. Nyx — Starstruck portrayed the Atlas Corporation’s undercover assassin, who used a pop star identity to travel the world and eliminate targets. Alongside other themed items in the Draw was Nyx’s coveted HS0405 — Songstress Blueprint, which doubled as a musical instrument when performing onstage.
Other Draws featured Demir — Dark Spell, a dark and enigmatic mercenary with a steampunk-styled Legendary GKS — Mystic Cards; Sophia — Sand Dune, Makarov’s former protégé, equipped with the Legendary Fennec — Corrupted Light; and Killgore — Vengeful Flames, a thrill-seeking combatant with the guitar-shaped Legendary M4 — Iron Song. The Battle Pass Vault also expanded with access to Spurned and Burned, featuring Epic Operator Skins Morte — Conciliatore, Scarlett Rhodes — Carmine, Alex — Bounty Hunter, and Scylla — Dusted, plus Blueprints such as the M4 — Spurred, Razorback — Stirrup, AGR 556 — Western Crown, and RUS-79U — Wretched.
Why Heavy Metal Still Stands Out in 2026
Viewed in 2026, Season 2: Heavy Metal stands as a time capsule of Call of Duty: Mobile’s willingness to mix genres. The Diesel map brought a grounded, dusty battlefield; Goliath Clash! turned Domination into a mech duel; Chaos Control removed respawn limits; and the Ravager Launcher gave Battle Royale a deployable tactical tool. The Maddox and Unit Support Perk rounded out a Battle Pass that offered meaningful free rewards, while the premium track leaned hard into post-apocalyptic fashion. For players who experienced it, Heavy Metal was loud, abrasive, and generous — a season that understood the appeal of scrapping in the ruins and collecting the bounty.
